Wet milling can achieve ultrafine particle sizes that are simply not possible with dry milling/dry grinding due to limitations caused by the nature of the process.
The use of specially engineered equipment is required to process the mixture of materials in a liquid medium or “slurry”. Wet milling is a more energy-intensive, labor-intensive process, but the process can break a product down into more components, and into finer particles, allowing you to produce a greater variety of byproducts that can generate additional revenues.

For example, our CMC Supermill PLUS™ horizontal media mill is equipped with the latest milling technology and pioneering design features. It is efficient, flexible and economical for the most demanding applications. It offers large screen separation for media sizes down to 0.1mm and as large as 4.0mm. The flexible process design allows for discrete pass, high flow re-circulation and cascade milling.
Also available is the CMC Duplex Supermill PLUS II which is designed with two chambers on one common frame and offers one of the most productive and efficient ways to address difficult custom processing applications. Basket style media mills have been the salvation of small batch, rapid changeover industries such as the ink dispersion industry, and the CMC Batch Mill line is a great example of this milling platform.
It offers efficient, one tank milling of a wide range of formulations along with full operator control of both the agitator speed and the milling shaft speed. And the CMC Double Planetary Mixers are the ideal choice for mixing and kneading viscous pastes, gently blending shear sensitive formulations or drying and granulating powders.
