Milling/grinding machinery has been around since the early 1800’s for both wet milling/grinding and dry milling/grinding. Both types of grinding take a product and break it down for smaller particle sizes but there is a difference between the two. Dry grinding takes product and breaks it down usually resulting in a powder. Wet grinding takes a liquid or slurry and reduces the particle sizes with in the medium.

Wet milling/grinding machinery can be expensive and cost companies more than dry grinding but it can achieve sub-micron sizes resulting in a higher quality product.

There are many types of machinery manufactured that can take liquid material and blend them together while still breaking down particles and increasing dispersion. One specific machine has been known to revolutionize the milling industry with its simple deign and unique features is the basket mill that is also referred to as a batch mill. The basket mill machine has parts that are designed to allow for rapid changeover between products.

Custom Milling & Consulting LLC, located in Fleetwood, PA has been offering toll processing services and manufacturing milling machinery since 2002. Our staff of technicians and engineers has more than 25 years of experienced the wet milling industry. They have built, operated and designed basket mill machines and its parts for wide range of industries that include; paints, ink and pigments, pharmaceutical, automotive, cosmetics, and food.

Basket mill machine and its parts are designed to increase efficiency and production without sacrificing quality. The basket that is on the end of one shaft contains media or balls that are agitated by several pegs attached to spinner inside the metal screen.  There is a second shaft that has a propeller on the end that spins while the agitator is spinning creating a vortex that takes the liquid through the screen. As the liquid passes through the screen the media breaks down the particles by colliding against the screen and each other.

After the product is mixed and ready to be packaged the cleanup is quick and easy allowing for the next product to processed in just a matter of minutes.

All the basket mill machine parts are made of stainless steel making it easy to spray the machine clean or to dunk the basket and propeller in a tank of solvent spin for a few minutes and be ready for the next batch.

Custom Milling & Consulting LLC, engineers will take the time to custom build a machine that will fit your needs.
